Chapter Eight: The Rock of Cashel
Finally, Sonja takes us to The Rock of Cashel. Also known as Cashel of the Kings and St. Patrick’s Rock. It is located at Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland. This was the original residence of the kings of Munster. The name comes from Caiseal meaning “stone fort”. There is evidence that the burials and church buildings date back to the 9th century. The legend surrounding the Rock of Cashel started in the Devil’s Bit, a mountain 20 miles north of Cashel. In local folklore St. Patrick banishes Satan from a cave in doing so the rock, in which the cave lay was uprooted and landed 20 miles away in Cashel. Spirit Traveler, Sonja Grace will uncover the energy source of Cashel and reveal what really happened to St. Patrick. She shares what the Druids understood and why the King of Munster relinquished the Rock of Cashel to the church.
